We developed this Policy to provide you with information on how we collect, use, share and store your Personal Information when you use the FieldGuide Website, App, and Services.
1. Personal Information
1.1. “Personal Information” is information that, either alone or in combination with other information collected, identifies an individual, including, but not limited to, first and last name, bar association number, email address, phone number, and employment information.
1.2. “Non-Personal Information” is other information that cannot personally identify you, but may be collected combination with Personal Information. Examples of Non-Personal Information include, but are not limited to, frequently downloaded CLEs and length of time to complete CLEs.
1.3. We will receive information regarding your activities (e.g. CLEs completed) and activity data (e.g. time to complete a CLE) from your device when you use and interact with the FieldGuide Website or App.
1.4. FieldGuide may collect and process demographic information such as information about your gender, age, and location. To the extent that FieldGuide combines any non-personally identifiable demographic information with Personal Information that FieldGuide collects directly from you on the FieldGuide Website and App, FieldGuide will treat the combined data as Personal Information under this Policy.
1.5. FieldGuide will collect only as much Personal Information as FieldGuide needs for the purposes specified in this Policy, for purposes specified at the time of collection of the Personal Information, or for other purposes that you consent to in the future.
2. Use of Personal Information
2.1. General Usage
Consistent with applicable laws we may use your information:
2.1.1. To process your account registration;
2.1.2. To provide you with access to your personal account;
2.1.3. To inform you of new services features, events, news, or articles. FieldGuide may send you regular updates on issues FieldGuide thinks will be of interest to you;
2.1.4. To contact you with regard to your use of the FieldGuide Website or App;
2.1.5. To provide you with information or services or process transactions that you have requested or agreed to receive, including to send you electronic newsletters, or to provide you with marketing materials;
2.1.6. To enable you to participate in a variety of the service features;
2.1.7. To identify you as the author of any communications that you send to FieldGuide; and
2.1.8. For other purposes disclosed in this Policy.
2.2. Customer Support
When you interact with our customer support representatives via email or telephone, or through the FieldGuide Website or App, we may collect Personal Information, such as your name, phone number, email address, and contact preferences. We may use the information collected to provide you with customer and product support. We may access your FieldGuide account in order to assist us in providing you the necessary assistance. To improve customer service, subject to applicable laws, we may also record and review conversations with customer support representatives, and analyze any feedback provided to us through voluntary customer surveys.
2.3. Internal Processes
FieldGuide also may use Personal Information for internal statistical, marketing, or operational purposes, including generating sales reports and measuring and understanding demographics, user interests, and other trends among our customers.
Personal Information may be anonymously transferred (in a de-identified manner) to third parties who act for FieldGuide to further process in accordance with the purposes for which the data was originally collected or for purposes for which you subsequently consent. For example, sometimes a third party may have access to your Personal Information in order to support FieldGuide information technology or to handle mailings on FieldGuide’s behalf. If FieldGuide transfers your Personal Information to an outside agent or organization for such purpose, FieldGuide will take appropriate measures to protect your privacy and to ensure the safety and security of your Personal Information. FieldGuide will use reasonable measures to ensure that the anonymized Personal Information transferred to any third party cannot be reasonably associated with, linked to, or used to identify you.
Except for the aforementioned reasons and as provided in section 2.5, FieldGuide will not transfer or sell your Personal Information to any third party without providing you prior notice and obtaining your consent.
2.5. Other Disclosures
Subject to applicable laws in your jurisdiction, we may also disclose Personal Information about you to others as we believe to be necessary: (a) to comply with state and local bar association CLE requirements; (b) to comply with law or regulation, including laws or regulations outside your country of residence; (c) to comply with legal process; (d) to respond to requests from public authorities and law enforcement officials, including officials outside your country of residence; (e) to enforce any of our terms and conditions or policies; (f) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates and subsidiaries; (g) to protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of FieldGuide.
We may also transfer Personal Information to an affiliate, a subsidiary or a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of FieldGuide’s business.
3. Security and Policy Updates
FieldGuide uses reasonable security measures to help protect against loss, misuse, unauthorized access and unauthorized disclosure or alteration of the Personal Information under its control.
We will retain your Personal Information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which your Personal Information has been collected as outlined in this Policy unless a longer retention period is required by law.
We reserve the right to update or modify this Policy. You can determine when this Policy was last revised by referring to the “last updated” legend at the bottom of this page. Any changes will become effective upon our posting of the revised Policy.
We will provide notice to you if these changes are material and, where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent. Consistent with applicable laws, this notice will be provided by email or by posting notice of the changes on the FieldGuide Website or App.

When you provide information to and use FieldGuide, your Personal Information and activity data on FieldGuide will be collected and stored by FieldGuide, Inc. in the United States. If you reside in a country outside the United States, please note that the data protection and privacy laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as the laws in your country.
6. Marketing Correspondence
We may use your Personal Information to send you marketing-related correspondence related to services or products in accordance with your preferences. While using the FieldGuide Website and App, you may be asked to choose your marketing-related preferences (Opt-in). If you no longer wish to receive promotional, advertising, or other service-related notifications you may opt-out of receiving those messages by changing your preferences in the FieldGuide App (Opt-out). Instructions on how to “opt-out” will be included in any marketing email we send. If you choose not to receive notifications, you may still use the FieldGuide Website and App, but you may not receive, or may be unable to use, certain services that involve our interaction with you.
7. Children’s Privacy
FieldGuide’s Website and App are not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we request that individuals under age 18 not provide Personal Information to FieldGuide. If we learn that we have collected the Personal Information from an individual under age 18, we will take steps to delete the information as soon as possible. By using the Website or App, you acknowledge that you meet these eligibility and residency requirements.
8. Personal Information Concerns & Changes
You may request access to your Personal Information and request that erroneous or inaccurate Personal Information be updated. You may also request that your Personal Information and FieldGuide account be deleted. FieldGuide will respond promptly to your requests in accordance with applicable law. For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personal Information associated with the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request. Additionally, as permitted by applicable laws, we may need to retain certain Personal Information for a longer period of time for recordkeeping purposes, such as retaining records relating to accounting purposes.
